Last week we installed a new countertop display featuring a different variety of soapstone called Minas Duro. The Minas Duro is very dark once oiled, and highlighted by vibrant green undertones and detailed white veining. Click here to view slab photos of our current inventory.
On this new display, we opted to fabricate a chiseled edge. The chiseled edge is done by hand to create a natural, unrefined finishing touch.
A chisled edge compliments soapstone well. Since soapstone countertops have a honed, matte finish, your edge detail choice can vary from classic, to sleek, to rustic. Although the majority of our customers choose an “eased” edge with a simple squared-off profile of the 1 1/4″ thick stone, the chisled edge offers a unique alternative.

Teresina Soapstone is offering a unique alternative to traditionally honed soapstone. Our leathered beleza soapstone features a stunning look and feel. The leathered finish is achieved by using clay pellets to grind down the softer minerals in the stone more rapidly than the harder minerals. As the softer minerals are removed from the stone, the surface becomes darker and textured, resulting in a striking color and feel. Because the leathering process creates a richer color, you do not need to apply mineral oil to achieve a darker look on your leathered countertops. Although the leathered soapstone has a different texture than honed soapstone, it possesses all of the benefits of a honed soapstone. Leathered soapstone will not stain or etch, it is not affected by heat, and it is the #1 germ and bacteria resistant natural stone countertop. Interested in more information? Click here to Contact Us.
